Capabilities

When your production requires diverse capabilities, Longwood has the solution. Processes include injection, compression and transfer molding, high-speed continuous Orcomatic® molding, solution coating, calendaring, mandrel building, and extrusion. In addition to traditional technologies, we offer state-of-the-art over-molding of elastomers onto inserts and flashless injection. We support operations with internal design and manufacture of traditional and flashless tools.

Rubber Injection Molding
Injection molding is a highly efficient process for consistent quality and cost-optimized output. Our specially designed automated equipment further enhances productivity. Injection molding is used for all rubber and rubber bonded (metal, plastic, TPFE) parts. Rubber compounds include NB, NBR, CR, FKM, EPDM, HNBR and other special compositions. Our machinery includes vertical and horizontal injection molding presses.

Orcomatic®
Longwood's proprietary high-speed Orcomatic® compression molding system produces custom manufactured components with extremely consistent tolerances. The quasi-continous process is designed for high volume output of low volume parts. In combination with our highly automated deflashing processes and 100% camera inspection, Orcomatic® manufacturing techniques are superb for high volume / high precision applications.

Compression & Transfer Molding
From simple to highly integrated transfer shuttle systems, Longwood has a process that works within your requirements. With compression molding, tooling costs tend to be lower than competing technology and is also more versatile for larger parts.

Extruded
With a cross-sectional range of 2" to 24", Longwood is capable of producing parts in this extended size range with quick delivery times and shortened supply chains. We offer custom-designed parts to your exacting specifications supported by a full service in-house design team and die shop. Customers preview parts prior to full-scale production with our unique prototyping program.

Mandrel Built Products
Our all rubber and fabric-reinforced products are produced in a variety of sizes, complex shapes, and designs. Longwood is the leading manufacturer of mandrel-built products for the tire building, power transmission industries and original equipment manufacturers worldwide.

Elastomeric Bonding
Longwood ensures proper bonding characteristics with contaminant-free parts to deliver top-quality parts. We offer rubber to metal bonding for brass, bronze, titanium, plastic and PTFE.

Fabric Reinforced Elastomers
Our expertise in the production of fabric reinforced products using Nylon, Aramid, Polyester and Tricot pay off in proven reliability and long life components for your products.
